Alec Baldwin has pleaded not guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter in the Rust shooting case.
The actor was given the charges last month following the incident in October 2021, where a live round from a prop gun on the set of the Western movie that Baldwin fired tragically killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
The actor entered the plea yesterday (February 23) with documents filed in Santa Fe County court after being due to appear in court today.

An order was also issued by Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer, with the actor prohibited from possessing any firearms or dangerous weapons, and also banned from consuming any alcohol.
Baldwin has also been ordered not to discuss the shooting “or the substance of his or the witnesses’ potential testimony.”
The actor has denied any responsibility for the accidental killing of Hutchins.
Last month, the film’s armourer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was also charged, with her and Baldwin’s charges coming over allegations of negligent use of a deadly weapon.
“The District Attorney and the special prosecutor are fully focused on securing justice for Halyna Hutchins,” a spokesperson for the New Mexico district attorney told NBC News at the time. “The evidence and the facts speak for themselves.”
Rust will resume production this spring (via Variety), which comes after a settlement with Hutchins’s family, including a producer credit for the late cinematographer.
The settlement originally meant a case of wrongful death against producers would be dismissed, though a review of the evidence—including the fact that live and dummy rounds were mixed together—have led to the charges.
“An actor does not get a free pass just because they are an actor,” said Santa Fe’s District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies (via CNN). “That is what is so important. We are saying here in New Mexico, that everyone is equal under the law.”
