‘Obsession’ Season 2 – Cast, Release Date, Plot, News and More

Obsession on Netflix is everyone’s latest TV, well, obsession. The story of a successful surgeon and family man who risks everything by embarking on an ill-advised secret affair with his son’s fiancée had jaws dropping with the now-infamous “pillow scene,” and show’s mix of heady, emotionally charged relationship drama and increasingly unhinged plot and character turns made for compelling, occasionally confusing viewing—the kind that tends to do well numbers-wise.

All of which means a second season could potentially be commissioned. Not to mention that the untimely cancellation of Netflix’s premier steamy show Sex/Life after two seasons has created a gap in the streaming giant’s erotic catalogue.

Will there be a Season 2 of Obsession?

Netflix has yet to announce whether it will be renewing Obsession for more episodes, as the show has only recently started streaming on its platform.

Obsession has been marketed as a four-part limited series, although there have been plenty of miniseries over the last few years which were intended to be one-offs but ended up spawning additional seasons: The White Lotus and Big Little Lies, for instance. So a second season isn’t entirely out of the question.

What would Season 2 of Obsession be about?

This is a trickier question to answer. The central plot of Obsession was adapted from the novel Damage by Josephine Hart, meaning that a second season would have no roadmap for where the characters might go. It is possible that more drama could be gleaned from the fallout of William and Anna’s betrayal of their respective partners in season one (revenge affairs are totally a thing, after all, and nobody plays angry like Indira Varma), or the show’s creators might decide to take the anthology approach, and tell a new story with each new season, à la Dirty John or Miracle Workers.
