Everyone Thinks Starbucks’ Bumblebee Cake Pop Is A ‘Corporate Joke’

NEW MENU ITEMS at Starbucks tend to make a splash online. But one addition to their new summer menu has people going through all kinds of emotions: Confusion, uncontrollable laughter, and even outrage.

Would could be getting people this riled up? The seemingly innocent Bumblebee Cake Pop. And it’s not even its taste that has folks up in arms. It’s the cake pop’s peculiar appearance—and the fact that it doesn’t quite look like a bumblebee. Despite its yellow color and black stripes, people on are convinced that the cake pop is actually a cat.

It looks like a cat that appears to be “super stressed,” as one Twitter user pointed out.

Another person “let out the worst scream in the world” when they opened their bag and discovered the cat/bumblebee hybrid creature staring back at them.

The cat (and we use that term lightly here) has even garnered its own thread on Reddit called “This is not a bumblebee.” The thread includes comments from people saying that the cake pop looked more like Pikachu or even “Yellow Shrek.”

“I don’t understand why they didn’t make the bumps white, like wings. Instead they got ears,” one Redditor pointed out.

“At this point it has to be a corporate joke. There’s no way. There is no way that they actually make these things and NOT think that we notice how cat-like they are,” another person added.

Thankfully, there are also some less controversial items on the Starbucks’ new summer menu, like the Chocolate Java Mint Frappuccino and White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cold Brew. And we can confirm that both drinks do not stare back at you with big soulless eyes.
