Watch This Stylist Demonstrate How to Get Jack Reacher’s Haircut

Jack Reacher is one of the all-time great fictional male heroes in the pop culture canon, and has proven to have an enduring appeal among vacationers, dads, and vacationing dads thanks to the prolific output of author Lee Child. Following on from two movies in which Tom Cruise played the eponymous good guy, the character is now accruing a whole new cohort of fans thanks to his latest incarnation in the Amazon Prime Video series Reacher, where he is played by former Titans star Alan Ritchson.

Ritchson’s Reacher is tall, jacked, can crack the occasional joke, and stands up for the little guy—all admirable traits in an action hero. He also has an understated wardrobe and hairstyle that can be easily emulated. In a new video on his YouTube channel, men’s grooming vlogger The Salon Guy, a.k.a. Stephen, demonstrates how to simply achieve the Reacher haircut yourself.

He starts by trimming the back down with a number 5 guard, then tapers and neatens it off at the edges with a number 4. “If you see [Ritchson’s] hair, it’s not super super short,” he says. “It’s probably about half an inch to three quarters of an inch long throughout the back and sides, very consistent.”

He leaves around around 3 inches of length on the top, and 3.5 at its longest at the front, which can then be styled with wax or clay.

“This haircut works great on people who have got fine hair, medium hair,” he says, adding: “Preferably straight hair. This really works best on straight hair… If you’ve got straight hair and you’re looking for a new look, this is definitely something that could work out really well for the warmer months.”
