Al Roker Shared a Motivating Video of His Morning Workout Routine

Broadcasting legend Al Roker has just shared a look at one of his rigorous at-home training sessions, showing how he continues to stay fit and active at age 67.

“The moment of elation when your trainer oversleeps but then you go ahead with your workout anyway. What is wrong with me?” the Today host wrote in the caption for the clip, which shows him performing a comprehensive full-body routine including standing dumbbell rows, cable rows, dips, battle ropes, hammer curls, side raises, and a series of bodyweight moves with a Bosu ball.

This new video—which shows Roker putting in a lot of work—comes on the heels of a 20-year health and fitness journey for the TV host. Roker underwent gastric bypass surgery in 2002, losing 100 pounds as a result (an experience he chronicled in his book Never Going Back: Winning the Weight Loss Battle for Good), and has also recovered from what he described as an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer. He has consistently demonstrated his commitment to an active lifestyle ever since.

In addition to his at-home workouts, Roker is a big fan of cardio interval training, namely, the run/walk method. Also known as the “Galloway method,” the run/walk technique is a great, accessible way for anyone of any age to get into running.

More recently, the anchor has credited the keto diet with helping him lose an additional 40 pounds. He regularly shares his favorite tasty low-carb keto-friendly recipes on Instagram, although he acknowledges that while going keto has yielded great results for him, your mileage may vary. “What works for you, works for you,” he said in 2019.
