WWE Superstar Roman Reigns Shares His Workout for SummerSlam 2022

ROMAN REIGNS IS no stranger to the gym. The WWE Superstar—who was a college football standout at Georgia Tech before shifting his attentions to wrestling—considers his fitness journey to be as important to his identity as any other facet of his life.

“I don’t even necessarily look at it as working out, or that it’s a separate thing,” he told the MH crew when we caught up with him ahead of his SummerSlam 2022 Last Man Standing match against rival Brock Lesnar. “It’s built-in—it’s as much a part of my day as being a father, being a performer, being a WWE superstar. It all goes hand-in-hand.”

His workouts have evolved over the years. Reigns previously told MH that he has followed the intense Y3T protocol with champion bodybuilders and included HIIT cardio conditioning when he couldn’t go to the gym in the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic. Some things never change, however—Reigns thought when he was finished playing football he would never do heavy loaded squats again. “My football strength coaches laughed at me,” he says. “I’m 37 now—I’m still squatting to this day.”

Reigns walked us through his favorite exercises—including the dreaded squats—that he includes in his training as he preps for his biggest matches in the ring. Check out the movements, then watch him in action at SummerSlam 2022 as he vies for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title.
