Another week of Poker Face, another week of superb guest stars who may (or may not) have committed a crime for Natasha Lyonne’s Charlie Cale to solve. In Episode 6, “Exit Stage Death,” Tim Meadows and Ellen Barkin starred as two quarreling former co-stars who decided to put on one last show to revive their careers. Of course, there’s far more going on behind the scenes, and Charlie easily weeds through all the lies to find the ugly truth.
Created by Knives Out‘s Rian Johnson, Poker Face follows Charlie Cale, a drifter with a strange power to tell when people are lying. More of a curse than a blessing, Charlie just can’t help but understand why someone lies. Even when she’s on her way out of town, onto the next short-term gig, her mind works until she can’t stand the thought of leaving a mystery unsolved.
Once Charlie uncovers whatever conspiracy is going on, she’s still got to bring the criminal to justice. Since she’s not with the police (and tries to stay away from any possible attention to herself), it’s a challenge to not only catch someone in a lie, but to extrapolate herself from the case once it’s done. Still, she helps as much as she can, then leaves as quickly as she came.
In Episode 7, “The Future of the Sport,” we find Charlie working at an arcade by a race track. And although she knows next to nothing about professional racing, she inexplicably finds herself involved in a racing accident she soon realizes is actually an attempted murder. So, who stars alongside Lyonne in this epic mystery? We’ve got the answer below.
