AJ McLean is looking shredded these days. Of course, as a Nineties pop star and one fifth of the Backstreet Boys, he’s not exactly a stranger to having people thirst over him, but in a recent Instagram post, the singer revealed that he has been putting renewed effort into his health and fitness routine over the last year, after putting on a little weight.
“Thought I’d do a little throwback Thursday vibes,” he wrote in the caption for the before and after side by side photo. “Found the pic on the left from a year ago on vacation and wow it’s amazing what a little dedication and setting goals can do for a person.”
McLean went on to hint that while he is definitely proud of the progress he has been making, he is not done, and is now setting new fitness goals for the future.
“The journey is far from over though. This is just the beginning!” He continued. “Let’s go! If I can do it so can you!!”
McLean has spoken publicly in the past about how important it is to him to stay healthy and active as a part of his recovery from addiction, and especially since becoming a father—but prioritizing his own wellbeing is a hard-won lesson.
“That’s something I’ve struggled with for years,” he told Entertainment Tonight in 2019. “I put my family first, then I put my job, then somewhere down the line is me. I’m slowing learning … that it’s okay to put me before all of it because if I’m not happy and healthy, how could I be the father and husband that I truly know I am and want to become even better at? If I’m not happy or healthy, all the other stuff is eventually going to go bye-bye.”
