The internet is obsessed with Apple AirPods Max. The top-rated over-ear wireless headphones have earned their place as one of Apple’s most coveted devices and for good reason. But, much to my wallet’s dismay, they’re typically over $500, even when on sale (retail price is $549). Now for the good news: The Amazon Prime Day AirPods Max sale just dropped the price by 18 percent off to $450, which is the lowest price they’ve ever been.
Look—they’re still pricey headphones. I won’t deny it. That being said, they do offer a host of stellar features that make the price tag worth it if you have the cash or want to gift them to a very lucky person in your life. To start, the ear pads are made of a soft memory foam, so wearing AirPods Max for long periods of time is comfortable, even if you have earrings in. You’ll be happy you have them on for long days of traveling, at the office, or even while sleeping.
The tech in the on-ear cans is top-notch, too. I could geek out about it, but I’ll give you the TLDR version instead. The headphones offer up to 20 hours of battery life, allow you to opt into Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency Modes to control the outside sound allowed in, and are packed with Spatial Audio and Dynamic Head Tracking. Translation? They have a surround sound-like experience. Plus, AirPods Max charge via a Lightning cable, so you just need your basic iPhone charger to get them juiced up.
It’s still a hefty price tag, sure, but $450 is one of the lowest price that AirPods Max have ever been, so I’m absolutely not missing this sale (why yes, they are in my cart right now).
