This season of The Ultimatum: Queer Love featured a group of five couples, and within each of those couples was a person that had handed their partner an ultimatum: get married, or we break up. To help each couple make the decision on whether or not they were really with their life partners, each person was paired up with a new partner for a three week trial marriage. Some of these trial marriages ended horribly (looking at you Aussie and Mildred), and some ended with each person gaining a greater appreciation for the original partner.
For Yoly and Xander, however, they fell deeply in love, and they quickly connected through their compatible personalities and desire for marriage and children. When it was time to go back to their original partners for another three weeks, they had a hard time letting go of each other, and they continued to communicate throughout the process.
On decision day, Yoly was proposed to by her original partner Mal, and she said yes, while Xander and Vanessa broke up. Yoly and Xander then met up, with Yoly telling Xander that she wouldn’t be able to move forward with their relationship because she was going to see it through with Mal. They then had a tearful goodbye, but fans noted that it seemed like Yoly wasn’t that sure that she really wanted to be married to Mal. Yoly herself also stated that her head wanted Mal, but her heart wanted Xander.
So even though the two ultimately walked away from each other, viewers were not convinced that that was the end of the road for Yoly and Xander. If you’re curious about what happened to the couple at the end of the show, here’s what you need to know.
Are Yoly and Xander from The Ultimatum: Queer Love still together?
At the reunion, Xander and Vanessa confirmed that they were still broken up, and they actually hadn’t spoken to each other or seen each other since their break up. And while they both admitted that separating was painful, the former couple also noted that being separated was the best thing for them.
When it was time for Yoly and Mal to talk about their relationship, fans were stunned when Mal revealed that the two were “happily broken up.” Yoly said that they broke up only about two weeks after the finale, while Mal refuted that timeline. Either way, it seems like things fell apart pretty quickly after they had gotten engaged. Vanessa then chimed in and revealed that Yoly and Xander had tried to give their relationship a go in the real world.
Neither Yoly or Xander confirmed if they had actually been in an official relationship, but after the show, they did keep in contact and they had even planned for Yoly to come visit Xander in Hawaii. They also hung out at Coachella, but they both stated that that was nothing more than a friendly get together.
Ultimately, it seems like Yoly and Xander are taking time to be single before getting into a new relationship, but fans of the couple are still rooting for them to get back together.
