BIG BROTHER, NOW in the midst of its 25th season, has been ubiquitous on network television for so long that you kind of just think of that title as… its own thing. But, in fact, the title Big Brother is a reference to the ubiquitous character of the same name from George Orwell’s legendary novel 1984—a reference that makes more and more sense as the technology that the show employs continues to advance.
The show has always been all about endurance. Not in the same way as a show like Survivor, where people need to complete challenges and understand how to literally survive in the wilderness, but in a more psychological way. How can you make it in a secluded world with other people all playing mind games? The show’s prize money—which jumped up to $750,000 in Season 23—make for a worthy light at the end of the tunnel.
As the show has continued to air, you can now watch Big Brother more and more often. It airs on linear CBS (and streams on Paramount+) multiple times a week during any given season, but since the contestants/characters are living together in their secluded house for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week… now, with online live-streaming, people can watch them in that same timespan. Very Truman Show, if we do say so ourselves.
But you’re a Big Brother fan—you already know that. As Mr. Orwell would tell you: Big Brother is always watching.
Here’s how you, too, can always be watching Season 25 of Big Brother.
