The third Guardians of the Galaxy movie is about to be released, giving fans a chance for one more adventure with Star-Lord, Nebula, Drax, Rocket, Gamora and Groot before they say goodbye… and according to Chris Pratt, Vol. 3 marks a first for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“I do drop the first F-bomb,” Pratt told reporters at the film’s premiere. “Take that, Samuel L. Jackson!”
He went on to explain that while his use of the F word made it into the final cut of the movie, the moment was completely unscripted.
“It was not scripted. Everyone’s been trying to improv F-bombs for 10 years, and finally one made it in,” he said. “Usually when you start dropping F-bombs in like an improv scenario, it’s really your indicator to the filmmaker that you’d like to move on. And they actually put it in the film! So that’s pretty good… Yeah, I’m really proud.”
In addition to the MCU’s first expletive of that nature, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will also feature the first official on-screen appearance of Adam Warlock, played by MCU newcomer Will Poulter after his introduction was first teased back in 2017 in a post-credits scene in Guardians Vol. 2. “I knew the second they cast me that they were going in a different direction,” Poulter said of his role in the movie, stating that his version of Adam will digress from the supreme being depicted in the comics, as he is “far from physically perfect in just about every way.”
