Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a very proud father after his eldest daughter Simone made her WWE NXT live debut.
Simone, who is known in WWE as Ava Raine, appeared for the first time in front of a live crowd at an NXT house show in Orlando, Florida on July 10.
Simone cut a promo in the ring where she referred to herself as the “Final Girl” and called out NXT 2.0 Superstar Cora Jade.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Dwayne reacted to Simone’s debut, saying he was “very proud” of his “fiercely independent” daughter.
“She’s made history [becoming WWE’s first fourth-generation Superstar]. Very, very proud of her,” he said.
“She is fiercely independent. It’s very important for her to make her own way, blaze her own trail, blaze her own path. She doesn’t come to me looking for a lot, which I respect that. And I’m here watching and supporting.”
Dwayne was also asked if fans will ever see him in a WWE ring again, to which he responded: “Of course. Yeah, always open to that. For sure.”
Simone signed with WWE in February 2020 when she was unveiled as the newest trainee at the company’s Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
After her signing, WWE shared a video of Dwayne visiting the Performance Center to give advice to the future Superstars and watching their training.
Simone also had the opportunity to train in the ring with her dad when he stopped by for the visit.
“It was great because he got to see everyone there,” Simone said at the time. “He got to see how our culture is here, and then obviously I love spending time with him but to be able to train with him and do something I know we both love, it was great.”
