There’s just no stopping Bruce Springsteen. The rock’n’roll legend suffered a nasty-looking fall while playing a gig in Amsterdam on Saturday, face-planting on stage before rolling onto his back, prompting many fans present to express their concern on social media.
The “Born to Run” singer handled the potentially embarrassing moment—which has already gone semi-viral on TikTok—with good humor as his bandmates helped him to his feet, and proved that he’s “Tougher Than the Rest.” Springsteen appeared to bounce back from his tumble almost instantaneously, jokingly calling out “Goodnight, everybody!” before brushing off the mishap and carrying on with his performance.
It’s the kind of resilience that you might expect from a guy who just embarked on an ambitious world tour at the age of 73.
In a 2021 conversation with his friend and fellow music legend Tim McGraw, Springsteen spoke about the diet and fitness routine he uses to keep up that kind of energy and endurance:
“The biggest thing is diet, diet, diet,” he said. “I don’t eat too much, and I don’t eat bad food, except for every once in a while when I want to have some fun for myself. So I think anybody that’s trying to get in shape, exercise is always important of course, but diet is 90 percent of the game.”
“I don’t do that much right now,” he added. “I lift a little weight to stay toned, I may get on the treadmill. I walk, I don’t run anymore.”
