Fans React to Logan Roy’s Shocking Death in Episode 3

Warning: MAJOR spoilers for Succession Season 4, Episode 3, “Connor’s Wedding,” below.

We all knew it was coming, and yet, Succession managed to deliver a major shock in Season 4, Episode 3. It’s official: Logan is dead.

In the episode titled “Connor’s Wedding,” the Roy kids reacted… well, they reacted exactly how you’d expect. Once the shock wore off, Kendall, Roman, and Shiv all worried about “the optics” and “the narrative” and how they could spin their father’s death in their favor. While he was still up in the air, the siblings wiped their tears and drafted a statement to be front and center when the inevitable media storm that would come with Logan’s death hit.

The vicious patriarch had a quick, unexpected death from heart failure while on his way to meet with Lukas Matsson—heading there instead of to his oldest son, Connor’s, wedding— in an attempt to finally close the deal to sell off (most of) his company. The show didn’t keep us guessing for multiple episodes or put Logan in a coma. He died off-screen, then the entire episode centered more on all the advisors and family who had to live in his shadow. But now that he’s gone, there’s no telling what’ll happen next. There’s still a company to run (and potentially sell) and an election to rig. And someone has to lead Waystar/Royco through it all.

Since “Connor’s Wedding” was easily one of the best Succession episodes to date, the Internet had a lot of thoughts on the major, major death that just happened. Vulture and the LA Times both wrote incredible obituaries for Logan. On Twitter especially, viewers posted their best jokes, memes, and highlights from the episode. Here’s just a taste of the discourse. RIP Logan Roy, the best worst dad on TV.
