Fast & Furious 10 is bringing Charlize Theron’s Cipher back into the fold.
The villain made her debut five years ago in The Fate of the Furious before wrecking cyber-havoc once again in the franchise’s ninth outing last year.
Fans of that particular entry will remember her dramatic escape after Dom Toretto (played by Vin Diesel) destroyed her drone, but Cipher’s story won’t end there.
“I get to shoot with some really cool people that I have never – I get to work with Charlize first up, which I’m really excited about. She’s amazing,” Jason Momoa revealed to Entertainment Tonight ahead of filming Fast 10 later this month.
“Then I get to go to some cool places. Obviously work with the whole cast – most of the cast.”
Momoa is down for a villainous role himself, which opens the door to a potential team-up with Theron’s terrorist character.
“I’m excited I’m working with Vin. I’m excited I’m working with Charlize,” the Aquaman actor added, before describing his unnamed character as “amazing, ornery” and “misunderstood”.
The tenth Fast blockbuster is also fulfilling a special promise to the late Paul Walker, who portrayed Brian O’Conner.
“I promised him that we would get to [10 movies],” Diesel previously admitted.
“It may not mean anything to anyone else, but to me on a personal level, that’s the promise that I made to my brother. So I’d like to hopefully, if it’s meant to be, honor that.”
Up to this point, the Fast series (including spin-offs) has grossed over $6 billion at the box office.
Fast & Furious 10 arrives in cinemas on May 19, 2023.
