Frank Grillo Shows Off Boxing Skills in a New Training Video

Frank Grillo famously never stops—by the actor’s own admission, whenever he’s not sleeping he is either shooting a movie or training—and in a new video on his Instagram, he shared his tip for staving off jet lag. While others might make a beeline for a bed or a pot of coffee, Grillo seeks out a pair of boxing gloves.

Grillo explains that he did a strength training session in the morning not long after arriving in Malta, followed by a jiu jitsu workout and finally some impressive boxing drills with his training partner Jay Rajakariyar at Fortune Gym in Malta. Grillo gave a shoutout to boxer and gym owner Justin Fortune, before then demonstrating one of the fighter’s combinations while working the pads.

“Still feeling sluggish and jet lagged but the only way through is to train,” he wrote.

Grillo is in good company: his fellow action movie stars Dwayne Johnson and Arnold Schwarzenegger have both previously stated that the first thing they do upon arriving at a new destination while traveling with work is to find the nearest gym. Schwarzenegger swears off a post-flight nap in favor of getting his pump on, and Johnson says it helps him “anchor” and “balance” himself.

While Grillo has been fighting fit for decades (literally: the man pursued a career in martial arts before acting), he previously told Men’s Health that he upped the intensity of his training after he turned 50. Now 56, he’s in the best shape of his life.

“In your fifties, you think you should be slowing down,” he said. “I probably got in the best shape of my life at 52 years old, which is the message I try to tell people all the time, much younger than me. There’s no rules, so don’t think as you get older you get slower.”
