Here’s a First Look at Henry Cavill’s Transformation for Apple’s Spy Thriller

Apple TV+ has shared a first-look photo from Henry Cavill’s new spy movie Argylle.

The movie is an adaptation of the upcoming spy novel of the same name by Ellie Conway, which follows the Justice League and The Witcher star as the world’s greatest spy – who also happens to have amnesia.

His condition leads him to believe that he’s actually an author who specializes in writing spy thrillers, rather than a real spy.

The stellar ensemble cast includes Peacemaker‘s John Cena, Jurassic World‘s Bryce Dallas Howard, Samuel L Jackson (The Avengers), Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) and Sam Rockwell (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri).

Singer Dua Lipa will also be making her acting debut in the movie, as well as providing all of the music for the film.

The new image features the Man of Steel star in an emerald velvet suit jacket with a sharply-styled haircut, in an intimate embrace with Dua’s character.

In the background, people can be seen drinking in a booth in dimmed, red lighting on the left, while a statue stands in the background on the right, lit in a green hue.

Henry has taken on a host of iconic roles in recent years including Superman in the DC franchise, as well as Sherlock Holmes in Netflix’s Enola Holmes and Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher. Alongside this new movie, his upcoming films include Enola Holmes 2 and romcom The Rosie Project.

Apple has signed the project as a one-movie deal, however it is expected that Argylle will launch an entire new franchise on its streaming platform.

Matthew Vaughn, the Kingsman creator, is directing this movie and has declared that it will “reinvent the spy genre”.

“I’m thrilled to team with Apple and bring the most compelling spy thriller I’ve ever read to the only streaming service that can create a franchise of this scale and quality for global audiences to experience,” Vaughn said about the deal with Apple.

“When I read this early draft manuscript I felt it was the most incredible and original spy franchise since Ian Fleming’s books of the ’50s. This is going to reinvent the spy genre.”
