Jeremy Renner Reveals He Wrote His “Last Words” After Snowplow Accident

Marvel star Jeremy Renner has opened up about his horrifying snowplow accident, revealing he wrote down his “last words” in hospital.

The Hawkeye actor recently sat down with Diane Sawyer for an interview special titled Jeremy Renner: The Diane Sawyer Interview – A Story of Terror, Survival, and Triumph, recalling the moment he was crushed by his snowplow on New Year’s Day.

The accident left Renner in a critical condition, and he remembers “writing down notes in [his] phone” while he was in hospital, calling them his “last words to [his] family”.

Renner also said that he likely would have died if his nephew Alex hadn’t been there to help him.

“If I was there, on my own, that would’ve been a horrible way to die,” he shared.”And surely, I would’ve. Surely. But I wasn’t alone – [I was with] my nephew. Sweet Alex. And the rest of the calvary came.”

In a trailer released for the interview last week, a teary Renner stated that he now sees a “lucky man” when he looks in the mirror, adding: “I’ve lost a lot of flesh and bone in this experience, but I’ve been refueled and refilled with love and titanium”.

Renner suffered major blood loss, blunt chest trauma, and 30 broken bones following his accident, but he’s since been making great strides in his recovery.

Meanwhile, the actor’s newest Disney+ series Rennervations drops on the streamer next week, where fans can watch him renovate old and rundown vehicles.

“This is one of my biggest passions and it’s a driving force in my recovery, and I can’t wait for the world to see it,” he said in a press release for the show.

Rennervations premieres on Disney+ on April 12.
