An ad campaign for the United States Army featuring Jonathan Majors has been pulled in the aftermath of the actor’s recent high-profile legal issues. The Creed III and Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania star was arrested on Saturday, March 25 in New York following what authorities have described as a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old woman.
Majors had already appeared in two Be All You Can Be ads prior to his arrest. In an official statement, the Army Enterprise Marketing Office’s public affairs chief Laura DeFrancisco explained that the campaign is currently paused awaiting a resolution to the situation.
“The U.S. Army is aware of the arrest of Jonathan Majors and we are deeply concerned by the allegations surrounding his arrest,” she said. “While Mr. Majors is innocent until proven guilty, prudence dictates that we pull our ads until the investigation into these allegations is complete.”
Priya Chaudhry, Majors’ criminal defense attorney, has stated that the actor is “completely innocent” of all charges, that his arrest was strictly down to procedure, and that a statement recanting the initial allegations of assault has already been taken by law enforcement.
“Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows,” she said in a statement released to the Hollywood Reporter on March 26.
“We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently… All the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault her whatsoever. The NYPD is required to make an arrest in these situations, and this is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested.”
