Joseph Baena Shows Off Muscular Physique in Shirtless Gym Photo

Joseph Baena is mourning the end of the summer, although he still looks swimwear-ready.

The 25-year-old actor and bodybuilder, best known as the son of movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger, just shared a photo dump carousel to Instagram of his August exploits—although from the look of his physique you’d be convinced he spent the entire month in the gym.

The first photo appears to have been taken in Gold’s Gym, Venice, the bodybuilding mecca where Baena frequently trains, sometimes even with his famous dad. He poses shirtless in his workout shorts in the photo, tensing his vascular forearms, defined chest, sculpted six-pack abs and muscular quads.

Several commenters were quick to point out the family resemblance, with remarks like “You are morphing into your dad” and “like father like son,” while another called Baena “the Arnold Schwarzenegger of our generation.”

When it comes to carving his own swole physique, Baena has turned to Schwarzenegger, who he describes as the “best training partner in the world,” for advice in the past, although first he learned everything he could by reading his book The Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding.

“Even though I could call him anytime, I was too proud,” he told Men’s Health. “I went straight to the book. I wanted to figure it out myself.” Later, he asked Schwarzenegger directly for training tips, and Schwarzenegger offered just one: “Do the reps.”

It’s advice that Baena has taken to heart, both inside and outside the gym. “I say the lines over and over again—with a scene partner, an acting coach, or just by myself—repeating, repeating, repeating until it’s muscle memory,” he said. “To a point where you can wash your clothes, do your dishes, basically do anything—and spit the lines out.”
