Keith Urban Caused an Intense Fan Debate After He Shared a “Giddy” Las Vegas Instagram

KEITH URBAN JUST posed a unique question for his fans on social media—but it’s causing a reaction no one would have expected.

Ahead of performing at the 2023 iHeartRadio Music Awards, the “Street Called Main” singer sparked a debate while rehearsing for the beginning of his Las Vegas residency. In a photo uploaded in early March, Urban’s Instagram followers saw him standing in the middle of the audience section in front of a pole with a sign that read, “Guests are encouraged to stand during the performance.” The country artist appeared to agree with the sentiment, as the picture also showed him lifting a fist in solidarity to the venue’s thoughts on guest participation.

“Saw this sign and went ‘Yep … we are SO IN THE RIGHT PLACE,'” he wrote from the Zappos Theater Planet Hollywood on March 3. “Here we go Vegas! Opening night of our [brand-new] show. I’m giddy as s—!!!!!!!!”

When fans noticed that the “Wild Hearts” musician shared his opinion on the subject, many took to the comments section to give their own thoughts about standing during a long performance. Given how passionate they were over Urban, it wasn’t a surprise to see so many in agreement.

“Thank you for the SIGN!! Who can sit during a show — not this young lady … cheers!” one person wrote on Instagram. “So glad you said this! I’ve been to so many concerts and I love the music and need to stand and move! ❤️,” another agreed. “It is no fun to go see a concert and nobody stands!” a different follower added.

Still, others didn’t shy away from voicing their preference to stay in their seats during concerts. “I pay for a seat. If you are able to stand, please buy a pit/general admission seat. And I never yell at anyone. Just passing that along,” someone else chimed in. “Sorry. Not right if people choose to stand and I can’t see. I get it at the end. But not the whole time. Disrespectful. Pay a lot for a seat,” another fan said.

Luckily, Urban’s next performance dates can have people sitting and standing at the same time. In addition to taking the stage at the iHeartRadio Awards, he will perform at the 2023 CMT Awards on April 2, where he is nominated for two trophies.

No matter what your position is, everyone can agree on one thing. The Voice Australia alum will guarantee a great time live onstage.
