LeBron James Reveals the Moment He Says He Became the NBA’s GOAT

NBA superstar LeBron James is acknowledged by a wide array of basketball fans as being one of the GOATs (greatest of all time) in the sport. And James himself says he remembers the exact moment when he believes he earned that title.

Speaking to TNT’s Kenny Smith last week, James described his career as a “three-part movie series” divided across his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and L.A. Lakers, and recalled the 2016 game he played with the Cavaliers which saw them bring the first NBA title to Cleveland.

“At that moment I was like, I’m the greatest basketball player people have ever seen,” he said. “In all the facets. Like, I could play them 1 through 5, I can guard 1 through 5, you know, just literally like doing something that’s never been done in the history of the sport. I mean, teams that go down 3-1 were zero for like 32 in finals history. There’s nobody coming out of that. And nobody gave us a chance. I just felt like, ain’t nobody better than me at this. I felt like Jay-Z when he made The Blueprint.”

James’ TNT interview aired after the NBA’s 2022 All-Star game which saw Team LeBron go up against Team Durant. Following his victory in the All-Star game, James was then honored alongside Magic Johnson and Allen Iverson and ranked among the NBA’s 75 greatest players of all time, as part of the organization’s 75th anniversary celebrations.
