TAYLOR SWIFT EXCHANGED words with Lenny Kravitz—and it was for an incredible reason.
During the 2023 iHeartRadio Music Awards, both singers were in attendance to celebrate the biggest artists in the industry. The night was especially significant for Swift as the “Anti-Hero” singer received the Innovator Award for her contribution to music. But in a new video posted on iHeartRadio’s official TikTok, fans saw Kravitz call her name while the two passed each other backstage. As the musicians met, the “Are You Gonna Go My Way” vocalist had some thoughts about her sparkly jumpsuit.
“OK, you went in my closet,” he complimented Swift as she showed off her awards show outfit. “Yeah, I was just inspired by you. It’s my favorite color,” she responded.
While it’s unclear whether Kravitz meant his comment as a joke, fans agreed with his take on Swift’s wardrobe. What’s more, when the video went viral on TikTok, they shared their sentiments about the unexpected interaction in the comments section.
“I need Lenny to compliment my outfits like this. ????,” one person wrote. “Him checking her outfit out, it’s giving Cinna ???? ???? ????,” another agreed, referencing his character in The Hunger Games movie franchise. “Imagine Lenny Kravitz shouting your name across a room ???? I’d love so much for them to work together,” a different follower chimed in.
Now, it may look like this was the first time Swift and Kravtiz met. But for folks familiar with their past encounters, he previously presented her with the Artist of the Year trophy at the 2018 American Music Awards. What’s more, his daughter Zoë Kravitz is a mutual acquaintance.
The two women are not only friends, but Zoë and Swift created a quarantine pod together at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Plus, The Batman actress is credited for co-writing “Lavender Haze” and “Karma” on Swift’s latest album Midnights. So, Swift and Kravitz crossing paths was a sweet moment caught on camera.
