Like many celebrities, Leonardo DiCaprio is frequently beset by gossip about his dating life, and most recently rumors began to circulate around the 48-year-old actor and 19-year-old model Eden Polani. The two of them were photographed sitting together at a party last month, and the internet fast became convinced that Polani is the latest in a long line of much younger women who have dated DiCaprio.
Age gaps in romantic relationships are a topic that is constantly being debated on social media, with one half of the argument coming down hard on the side of “it’s wrong,” questioning what exactly a couple with such a large age difference would even talk about, and why an older man like DiCaprio would even want to go out with somebody who has so much less life experience than him. It’s not illegal, sure, but it’s still kind of gross, is the gist of what a lot of people on Twitter and TikTok were saying—and this conviction only got stronger when they noticed that the age gap between DiCaprio and Polani was exactly the same as that of The Last of Us stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, who play a surrogate father-and-daughter on the show.
It doesn’t help that DiCaprio has a reputation for repeatedly pursuing younger women, most recently 23-year-old actress Victoria Lamos; there’s a recurring joke that his relationships all end after his girlfriends turn 25, because, well, they do. But this time, at least, the rumors appear to be false.
“Leo and Eden just so happened to have been seated next to each other at the party, and were hanging in the same group,” a source close to DiCaprio told People. “Just because Leo might be talking to or sitting with a girl doesn’t mean he’s dating her.”
It’s good to know that Leo has a lower-age limit. Polani wasn’t even born when Titanic came out.
