Lex From ‘Jurassic Park’ Recreate Her Iconic Scene 30 Years Later

It has been 30 years since Steven Spielberg’s classic adventure thriller Jurassic Park hit screens, changing the entire movie-making game in terms of what was thought possible in terms of visual effects and spawning several sequels, including a whole Jurassic World spinoff trilogy.

To mark this anniversary, the Jurassic World TikTok account recently challenged followers to make duet videos showing themselves acting out one of the movie’s most famous scenes, where Lex Murphy, having previously believed she was finally safe from the freed dinosaurs, shakes in fear as a velociraptor closes in—and the spoonful of green jello in her hand wobbles along with her.

After fans of the movie submitted their best reenactments of the iconic movie moment, the Jurassic account surprised them with “a duet 30 years in the making,” as actress Ariana Richards, who played Lex, recreated the scene in a video alongside footage of her younger self.

Richards was just 13 when she starred in Jurassic Park, and went on to have a small role in its sequel The Lost World, alongside Joseph Mazzello who played her younger brother Tim. She has since spoken about about how the jello moment—and the entire chase set-piece in the kitchen that follows it—was her most memorable part of the experience of filming the movie.

“It was probably one of my favourite scenes because it has so much intrigue and suspense in it,” she told SFX. “I’ll never forget that. And to watch it, after the film was complete, it still gave me chills.”
