Pamela Anderson has announced an “intimate” and “definitive” documentary that will tell the story of the actress and model’s life through her own lens. News of Anderson’s documentary comes after the recent release of Pam & Tommy on Disney+, which stars Lily James and Sebastian Stan in the titular roles.
The eight-episode miniseries centers on the leaked sex tape and fall out between Anderson and Tommy Lee in 1995. Anderson announced the Netflix project on Instagram by sharing a picture of a handwritten note, which read: “My life. A thousand imperfections. A million misperceptions. Wicked, wild and lost. Nothing to live up to. I can only surprise you. Not a victim, but a survivor. And alive to tell the real story.”

Netflix tweeted that the doc will “feature the pop culture icon setting the record straight as she looks back on her professional path and her personal journey”.
The Keepers and Ask Dr Ruth’s Ryan White will direct the documentary, while Anderson’s son Brandon Thomas Lee will serve as producer. Announcing the project, he shared his mum’s note to his Instagram story alongside the caption: “The real story.”

At the time of the series launch, Lily James spoke to Net-a-Porter about the production and revealed how the makers had reportedly approached Anderson but she declined any involvement. “I wish it had been different,” James said, adding that she also contacted the icon personally.
“My sole intention was to take care of the story and to play Pamela authentically,” James emphasized.
In January, James also addressed the series’ use of “essential” sex scenes. Speaking to The Sun, the Cinderella star explained: “We really felt that the sex scenes had to be a part of the story and had to be essential to the script and progressing their relationship and looking at what happened.
“It was a really great constant conversation and nothing was set in stone,” she added.
Pam & Tommy concludes with its final episode on March 9, 2022.
