What an interesting workout 21.1. was! The first workout of the 2021 Open featured a movement we had never seen in any CrossFit sanctioned competition – wall walks. A quick glance at the leaderboard, and you’ll notice that 21.1 was a 15-minute AMRAP for most competitors. However, the top athletes in our sport were able to finish the workout well within the time cap. Amazingly, three athletes finished in under 11 minutes! Not too surprising, all three athletes were on the lighter side of the scale – weighing 135, 155, and 165lbs. Unofficially, the world’s top time goes to a 25-year-old female athlete out of Norway, Andrea Solberg, with a time of 10:50!
On to week 2! While week one’s workout was original, it – arguably – wasn’t the pain-inducing type of WOD we’re generally used to in the Open. Yes, it probably fatigued your shoulders quite a bit, but the total strain was likely kept low. Therefore, we think 21.2 will be something a little more Open-esque. What does that mean? For starters, we’re predicting the barbell will make its first appearance. Will this be a two-part workout? We’re saving that for next week.
