Release Date, Cast, News, and More

Marvel’s shows are often overlooked in lieu of the movies, but if you’re a fan averse to diving deeper into the MCU, you’re missing out. While the movies tend to be straight superhero action films, the shows have more episodes to play with genre and tone. WandaVision, Loki, and She-Hulk are all Marvel shows, and yet they have entirely different approaches to the stories they’re telling. It’s exactly what makes comic books so great, the ability to focus in on one character at a time, making their story feel both connected to the greater universe, while also unique.

Secret Invasion takes a new approach to Marvel’s television series. The espionage action series follows Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) as he takes on a group of rebel Skrulls, headed by the dangerous Gravik (Kingsley Ben-Adir). We also see the return of Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) and his daughter G’iah (Emilia Clarke).

The series threads the storyline from Captain Marvel into a standalone arc for Nick Fury, who decides to not call the Avengers or any other heroes, and take on the problem alone. But while you may think it’s unrelated to the rest of the MCU, or didn’t make any significant changes to the cinematic lore, the show has set up the next entry into the MCU: The Marvels.

But will we see more Secret Invasion? Will Nick Fury’s adventure continue on outside of the movies? We’ve got the answer below.

Will Secret Invasion Have a Season 2?

Most likely not. The series is a direct set-up to The Marvels and Armor Wars, which are major feature films featuring characters we saw in Secret Invasion, Nick Fury and Rhodey, respectively. So far, the majority of Marvel’s shows have been single-season series, merely meant to provide origin stories or background for various characters. The only MCU television shows so far that have gotten second seasons ordered are Loki and the anthology series What If…?.

The Marvels will follow Fury, Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Monica Rambeau in an all-new adventure. And the film will likely tease the next major story arc of the MCU, as it finally ties together plotlines from WandaVision, Ms. Marvel, and more in our post-Endgame MCU. There’s only so many times we can talk about the snap like it happened yesterday.

So if you want to see Nick Fury again, wait for The Marvels when it comes out on November 10, 2023.
