‘Rocky’ and ‘Creed’ Movies In Order: Rocky Movies Chronologically

Everyone loves an underdog story. That’s what’s made

Sylvester Stallone‘s Rocky such a memorable and beloved film. Since the first film’s release in 1976, Rocky has expanded into a franchise of nine movies total, including the newest release, Creed III. Sylvester Stallone’s boxing gloves have been hanging from the rafters for a while now, but Michael B. Jordan has taken on the mantle, playing Adonis Creed, the son of Rocky’s former enemy-turned-friend Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers). While the reboot of a completed franchise may appear at first glimpse to be a simple cash grab, Creed was not the case. The movie was carefully crafted by Ryan Coogler—one of the best young talents working today. The first movie in the franchise was highly successful, garnering a Critic’s Choice award and a Golden Globe, while also grabbing a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars. A sequel then followed in 2018.

Creed III debuted on March 3, 2023, with Michael B. Jordan reprising his role as Adonis Creed (and making his directorial debut behind the camera). His newest adversary is a childhood friend, Damian Anderson, played by Jonathan Majors (who just appeared as Marvel’s newest supervillain in Ant-Man: Quantumania). Fresh out of prison, Damian is a former boxing prodigy who has a lot to prove, and won’t let Creed get in his way of regaining his honor. Majors and Jordan star alongside Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad, and Florian Munteanu, who reprises his role as Viktor Drago from Creed II.

So before you watch the newest Creed installment, now is the perfect time to brush up on all the Rocky films. With nine movies total, you’ll have hours and hours to watch, enough for a long weekend or more.
