Some Love Is Blind Contestants Say They Were Deprived Of Food and Water While Filming

DAYS AFTER THE Love Is Blind reunion was trending for not actually airing at its scheduled time, the reality dating competition is the center of yet another controversy. Yesterday, Insider published a damning article about past Love Is Blind contestants being deprived of food, water, and sleep while in the pods and elsewhere on set.

For those who haven’t binged the Netflix show, the contestants are placed in pod-like rooms to get to know each other and go on “dates.” They’re separated by a wall, so they’re unable to see the person in the other pod.

“They would run out of food,” said season two contestant Danielle Ruhl. “I remember every time we’d get to the freaking kitchen, there’d be like one hard-boiled egg and it was like a fight to see like who could actually get the stuff.”

Ruhl also revealed that she fainted on set due to lack of food, water, and sleep. And instead of receiving medical attention, she was given a Covid test, and when it came back negative, producers immediately set her up with an on-camera interview.

Another season two contestant, Jeremy Hartwell, sued Netflix and the show’s production company, Kinetic Content, in June 2022. Hartwell accused the two of labor-law violations and subjecting participants to working conditions that were “unsafe and inhumane.” He also cited lack of food, water, and sleep while on the Love Is Blind set.

The Insider story also provided some insight into what may have went down during one of season four’s most infamous moments. Viewers of the series likely recall cast member Tiffany Pennywell Brown falling asleep while on a pod date with her now-husband Brett Brown. Well, it turns out that there may have been many factors in play at the time.

“But while viewers can’t get enough of the show, some cast members said being on Love Is Blind was a traumatic experience. They were so exhausted that they’d sometimes fall asleep during dates. Many were rarely spotted without an alcoholic beverage in hand,” the article stated.
