The Cloudmonster stands out from the pack thanks to an extra-chunky layer of On’s signature CloudTec (a series of circular pods that form the foundation of every shoe in the brand’s lineup). In our testing, we found the extra cushioning gives exceptional support to the midfoot and heel. This design makes it easier for the shoe to propel you forward during a run, no matter if you’re on pavement, a treadmill or trails. Even with a higher amount of cushioning, the shoe is still notably lightweight at 275 grams.
The shoe also has a proprietary Speedboard that’s designed to create soft landings and explosive rebounds that keep you moving. Some reviewers have noted the Cloudmonster has a wider fit, so we’d recommend it if you’re shopping for sneakers with a wide toe box.
