Lululemon makes some of the best workout clothes out there. The only catch is that it comes with a price tag to match. While their clothes really are worth the investment, it’s always nice to avoid paying full price. That’s where the ‘We Made Too Much‘ section comes in (in case you missed it, Lululemon has a somewhat hidden section on their site where they throw overstock merchandise to make room for new season releases). I watch the section like a hawk, and have noticed that they tend to restock it around major shopping events when consumer activity is up. In other words: there’s no official Lululemon Labor Day sale, but the ‘We Made Too Much’ men’s section is ripe for the picking with some of the brand’s all-time greats, like the Metal Vent Tech shirt, Fast and Free running shorts, and ABC pants.

The Metal Vent Tech shirt is a MVP in my workout wardrobe. I only own one, and I’ve been wearing it for years. I’ve worn it through half marathons, hot yoga flows, and intense training sessions (not to mention countless cycles through the washer and dryer) and it’s still in good shape. This is not a workout shirt that’s going to look ratty after a few months of wear. It’s super stretchy and has a slinky but not clingy fit that’s really hard to beat. Get one while it’s—gasp!—50 percent off. And if you already own one and love yours as much as I do, pick up the long-sleeve half-zip version to stay on your grind when fall weather rolls around.
Rounding out the best on-sale workout clothes are lined, six-inch inseam Fast and Free running shorts that will land mid-thigh, a License to Train matching set (the tank top and shorts are both on sale), and a two-pack of Lululemon’s superior compression boxer briefs.
And while Lululemon is know for it’s workout gear, we’ve gotta give credit where credit is due—they make some damn-good casual clothing, too. My ABC Pants, in particular, are on constant rotation. They’re so comfortable, thanks to the all-important anti-ball crushing gusset (if you were wondering what the ABC stood for, now you know) that lends extra mobility around the crotch and thighs. They’re made of synthetic performance fabrics (read: they’re stretchy and breathable), but have the structure of a standard five-pocket chino so you can wear them anywhere, office included.
This Labor Day find is a rare moment when Lululemon’s best-sellers land in the ‘We Made Too Much’ section. Naturally, a few sizes and colors (particularly of the Pique Polo Shirt and License to Train tank) have already started to sell out, so act fast if you want to nab new Lululemon gear for less.
