Taron Egerton Says He’s Flattered by Those Wolverine Rumors

Kingsman star Taron Egerton is addressing those Wolverine rumors once again. The star has been rumored to take on the role for years now after Hugh Jackman revealed he was stepping back from the role in 2015 after 2017’s Logan.

There’s been some teasing about a potential return from Jackman since then, but that hasn’t stopped the world speculating about who could take on the role next.

And it was Egerton in the hot seat on The One Show on February 25, when Alex Jones quizzed the Rocketman star on if we could see him joining the MCU and sporting those Wolverine claws on the big screen in the future.

“There’s no truth in it at all. There’s no truth in it. It would, be, obviously, really exciting, but I don’t know,” Egerton replied.

Jones, who was co-hosting alongside Ronan Keating, then pressed the star a little more, asking if he’d “like to take on a role like that”.

“Yeah, of course. That’s like playing Bond,” he replied. “It would be exciting to play a role where you play to by such a huge audience. Those movies are the most-watched movies in the world. It’s a great thrill and it’s a great part. But there’s no truth in it. Very flattering, though.”

But this isn’t the first time the star has been forced to deny the seemingly never-ending speculation. He took them on for one of the first times in July 2019, when he admitted on Heart Breakfast that he thought there were probably “better candidates” than him.

In October of that year he spoke out about it all again, confessing that he was “baffled” by all the talk as he’s “never felt like a Wolverine sort of guy”.

But that’s not all! September 2020 brought the speculation back around yet another time, when he admitted to GQ that he found it all “flattering”, but confessed: “There is no grounding for those rumors.”

We’re guessing that’s a no then?
