The Mountain Shared His Shirtless ‘Model Strut’ on the Treadmill

TikTok isn’t just a place to go if you want to feel old—it’s also a constant source of new fitness trends and challenges that range from the genuinely useful to the absolutely ridiculous.

There’s been the “broomstick challenge” which tests your strength and mobility, the “cake check challenge” that will show if you’ve been skipping leg day, and the handstand clock which requires nothing short of flawless core strength and balance. Then there are the more spurious ones, like a hack for making your arms look more vascular, and the workout which purports to make you better in bed by improving your hip game.

Some are just a bit of harmless fun, however, like the most recent spate of videos in which gymgoers spice up their cardio sessions by treating their treadmill like it’s a fashion week runway. The clips are all accompanied by the on-screen caption “every day fighting the urge to model walk on the treadmill” and set to the 2007 banger “The Way I Are” by Timbaland, Keri Hilson, D.O.E. and Sebastian.

Former World’s Strongest Man title holder Hafthor Bjornsson (known to people with an HBO subscription as The Mountain from Game of Thrones) has shared his own contribution to the trend, but he went one extra. In addition to showing off his best catwalk strut, he also tore off his shirt to reveal the lean, shredded physique he has been sculpting since retiring from competitive strength sports two years ago.

Bjornsson has chronicled his body transformation on YouTube and Instagram as he has gone through the process of losing more than 100 pounds and throwing himself into intense boxing training and conditioning ahead of his grudge match against fellow strongman-turned-fighter Eddie Hall.

Their fight has been rescheduled to take place on March 19 in Dubai. Regardless of the outcome, it looks like Bjornsson will be stepping into the ring with sass in abundance.
