Former World’s Strongest Man Thor Bjornsson may have become known for his ongoing rivalry with Eddie Hall over the last couple of years, culminating in his victory over the British strongman last month, but he has also just found a new famous training buddy: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
It all started on Saturday, when a tired Bjornsson—who has lost over 100 pounds in his mission to become a shredded pro fighter—was contemplating a 4 a.m. workout.
“Super jet lagged,” Bjornsson wrote on Twitter. “Woke up at 4am. Doesn’t the @TheRock train at 4am everyday? Should I train?” Johnson saw the strongman-turned-boxer’s tweet and issued an open invitation for Bjornsson to join him for a workout any time.
“One day we’ll have to bang on some iron together,” he wrote. “The world’s strongest man, boxer, actor etc and the big, brown, bald, tattooed guy who’s only famous for wearing a fanny pack. Keep kickin’ ass brother.”
In his reply, Johnson also clarified that he wakes up at 4 a.m. and is usually in the Iron Paradise by 5 a.m. But Bjornsson was correct in thinking of Johnson in the context of an early morning workout while jet-lagged: the Red Notice star has previously stated that whenever he lands in a new city, the first thing he does to fight through the exhaustion is to get his body moving (a go-to cure for jet lag cure shared by his fellow action stars Frank Grillo and Arnold Schwarzenegger).

“No matter how many hours I’ve flown, no matter how many miles I’ve traveled, regardless of what country it is, the first thing I need to do to get ready for the work day is I gotta find the gym,” he said in 2019. “This, working out every day, is my anchor. Life is so crazy and busy for me, and for you guys too, like we’re on this treadmill that just doesn’t stop and continues to go, so I do need working out to anchor my day. It helps me balance myself.”
