As much as we love the Rue and Jules drama of Euphoria, along with their equally troubled peers, if Season 2 was just more of the same, writer/director/showrunner Sam Levinson’s artsy, risque high school show could get stale fast. Which is exactly why the second season of HBO’s hit program is getting some fresh faces. According to The Hollywood Reporter back in August, HBO announced new additions to the cast, including Minka Kelly, Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr., Kelvin Harrison Jr., and Dominic Fike.
The season premiere gave a first look at one of the new regulars, and it’s a glimpse that’s only expanded as the season has progressed. A stumbling Rue makes her way to the laundry room of a house party, where she discovers Dominic Fike’s character, Elliot, and joins him in some recreational drug use. Oh, and then he saves her from nearly going into cardiac arrest. After, she calls him “her favorite person.” What better way to introduce a new series regular than saving the main character’s life?
Considering the rocky foundation of Jules and Rue’s relationship after their intense split in the season one finale, it makes sense Rue would look for a new friend, especially when they share a particularly dangerous hobby of getting high on just about anything. As the season continues, we’ll no doubt learn more about Fike’s character and see how he factors into the lives of the least supervised kids on television.
Here’s everything you need to know about Dominic Fike and his character on Euphoria.
Who Is Dominic Fike?
The 25-year-old’s initial rise to stardom came as a singer and rapper, collaborating with major artists, including Halsey, Justin Bieber, Anderson.Paak, Brockhampton, and even Paul McCartney. In March of last year, Fike sang on McCartney III Reimagined and featured in the lead single “The Kiss of Venus”.

But acting’s still been a goal for the performer. Fike initially auditioned for Euphoria, by reading one of Mark Wahlberg’s scenes from Boogie Nights, but according to Variety, that part was written out of the show. HBO called him back again, this time for a bigger part in Season 2 of the Zendaya-led drama. Fike said the character reminds him of his younger self. “I don’t have to do much acting,” he told Variety back in August. “He’s exactly like me. It’s shit I would say and shit I would do.”
Who Is Dominic Fike’s Character, Elliot, in Euphoria?
Elliot first meets Rue at a New Year’s Eve party in episode one of the second season. And, of course, they take drugs together and become fast friends after Rue nearly dies from everything she’s taken that night.
Later, at school, Rue introduces Elliot to her girlfriend Jules, who immediately becomes upset. It’s clear there’s something going on between the two of them. Jules says it’s because Elliot likes Rue, and Rue appears to only want to get high with Elliot, while keeping her relapse from Jules. Elliot stays mum about everything. Suffice to say, Jules really doesn’t trust Elliot.
That all begins to change though in episode three. Rue convinces Jules and Elliot to hang out, and the three begin a whirlwind montage of truth or dares together. Then one night, Rue runs off to refill her stash, leaving Elliot and Jules alone for an evening. Alone together, Jules makes Elliot admit he’s attracted to Rue, and that he’s attracted to Jules too. They talk through the night together, and their relationship starts to head in a positive direction.
The trio’s dynamic is dramatically altered in the next episode, however, when a game of truth or dare ups the tension. Elliot and Jules secretly make out before Rue arrives. When she gets there, Rue is also secretly taking drugs in Elliot’s bathroom. As the night progresses, Elliot suggests they go out to get alcohol to make things more interesting. They steal the liquor, and a very-not-sober Rue partakes. When Jules confronts her, Rue insults her and walks home alone.
After, Elliot reveals to Jules that Rue hasn’t been sober since New Year’s Eve, and he’s supplied her with drugs this entire time. Although she’s upset, Jules appears to return to Elliot’s bed, indicating they may have slept together.
In episode five, Elliot reappears at Rue’s house, when her family and Jules are confronting her about her relapse. Rue berates Elliot. Before and Jules leave, Elliot remarks he liked the way she was, and wonders if he made a mistake ratting her out. The last we see of him, he’s staring at Rue as her mother tries to take her to rehab.
But is that our final shot of Elliot? It wouldn’t be a good idea to have Rue around another person who takes drugs in her quest for sobriety, and it’s not clear if he and Jules are still close, or if their relationship too is severed with the lie of Rue’s sobriety.
For now, we’ll have to give the epic season one soundtrack another listen while we wait.
