Who Plays Laurie on ‘Euphoria’ Season 2? Meet Martha Kelly

Usually when people think of creepy drug lords, a Breaking Bad character or two comes to mind. But after a recent episode of HBO’s Euphoria, people are realizing one of the season’s newest additions is even more menacing than we initially thought.

Laurie, who worked with Fez’s supplier Mouse before Ashtray killed him, appears in the Season 2 premiere. Rue, Ashtray, and Fez stop by her house before heading to a New Year’s Party. While they’re there, Laurie’s goons make them strip to prove they aren’t wearing wires, and Fez has to explain Mouse’s sudden disappearance.

We meet Laurie again in the third episode of the season, when Rue runs out of drugs and decides she has nowhere else to turn. In one of the most foolish moves she’s ever made, Rue proposes a hare-brained scheme to Laurie, where she’ll sell drugs through her various (imaginary) high school friends and bring back Laurie a hefty return on her investment. Laurie doesn’t ask a lot of questions and simply hands Rue a suitcase full of $10,000 worth of drugs. Of course, making a deal with a drug dealer is like making a deal with the devil. If Rue doesn’t pay up, Laurie says she’ll sell Rue to “some real sick people.”

Episode 5 is the closest (so far) Rue gets to that promise coming true. She visits Laurie’s house while running away from her mother and in withdrawal. After robbing a stranger’s house, she comes up with $2,000 in cash and jewelry, but Laurie says she needs it all in cash. And the only way Rue can get the money on time is… well…

Rue spends the night after Laurie gives her an injection of morphine, and then escapes the house and hopefully gets far, far away from Laurie. But someone like Laurie won’t just let Rue go. It’s not the last we’ll see of the straight-faced dealer.

So, that’s what we know about the new drug lord so far. But who plays Laurie in Euphoria?

Who Plays Laurie in Euphoria?

Laurie in Euphoria is played by Martha Kelly. Best known for her role in Baskets, the 53-year-old comedian started her acting career back in 2016. Since then, she’s starred in a number of notable films including Spider-Man: Homecoming, Marriage Story, and the show American Gods. She also voices a character named Bethany on the adult animated show The Great North.

Kelly’s unforgettable character in Euphoria is a sure sign we’ll see more of the actress in bigger roles soon enough. For now, though, we’ll have to stay tuned for the upcoming Euphoria episodes to see more of this unsettling, monotone character.
