‘Yellowjackets’ Season 2 – All the Songs from the Soundtrack

Yellowjackets is a show about a lot of things. If we want to be literal, it’s a show split between timelines and mysteries, possibly with some supernatural fitting in. Getting more metaphorical, it’s a show about the power of friendship, relationships (both romantic and platonic) built over time, and enduring even when things might seem impossible. It’s a show that constantly keeps us on the edge of our seats as it’s airing, and leaves us salivating for the next episode the very moment it ends. But all of that comes along with something else throughout it all: the soundtrack just rules.

Look, if you had a show that leaned as hard into ’90s nostalgia and grunge as Yellowjackets and it didn’t have an almost constant stream of the very best of ’90s alternative rock (with a few other eras and genres thrown in here and there), it would be a huge missed opportunity. Luckily, this is not a show that misses opportunities, as Season 2 keeps the story going strong, keeps developing its already impressive characters, and, yes, brings us a full season of god damn jams.

We should be clear up front: not every song on the Yellowjackets Season 2 soundtrack comes from the ’90s. Not every song from the Yellowjackets Season 1 soundtrack was from the ’90s! One of Season 1’s best needle drops, “Never Tear Us Apart” by Paloma Faith, was a cover of an older song, yes, but it was released in 2012. And given that the show takes place not only in the ’90s, but also in present day, we’re going to go ahead and say that’s A-OK.

And we should also mention that even though some of the songs aren’t from the ’90s, they almost all either have the spirit of a song from the ’90s—like Sharon Van Etten’s “Seventeen,” which was released in 2019 but has a distinct ’90s feel and is also a perfect thematic fit for the show—or has it’s own specific purpose; Papa Roach’s “Last Resort,” we’re looking at you.

But that’s enough chatter. You want to know the Yellowjackets Season 2 songs, and we’ve got them. Keep checking back here after every episode—we will keep this space updated.
