Yellowstone fans can rest assured that season 5 is on its way, and it’ll feature new cast members, including country singer-songwriter Lainey Wilson.
Back in June, Deadline reported a few changes to the Yellowstone season 5 cast. Apart from actors Mo Brings Plenty (a.k.a. Mo) and Wendy Moniz (a.k.a. Governor Lynelle Perry) getting bumped up to series regulars, four new cast members were added to the season 5 lineup. Among them was Lainey, who confirmed the news over the weekend at the Under the Big Sky Festival in Whitefish, Montana.
“I did want to share some news with y’all,” she said to a concert crowd. “I am going to be in the next season of Yellowstone, and I’m excited. I’m going to be a musician on the show named Abby and I get to share my music with a lot of the world who watches the show.”
Lainey continued: “It’s a big d–n deal. So, thank y’all. Thank y’all so much. Y’all be sure to tune in November 13 for the first episode. You’re going to see my big ol’ head on that screen. Trust me, I can’t believe it either.”
As country music fans may know, Lainey first shot to stardom in 2016 with the release of her debut album, Tougher. The Louisiana native’s 10-song collection immediately climbed country charts. She had just as much success with Lainey Wilson EP (2016) and Sayin’ What I’m Thinking (2021). Most recently, she came out with the new song “Heart Like a Truck.”

When her Yellowstone casting news first broke, she celebrated with a behind-the-scenes Instagram photo of herself on the Montana ranch.
Lainey won’t be the first Yellowstone cast member to also be an accomplished singer in real life. Actor Ryan Bingham, who plays Walker, is also known as an award-winning country music singer. His music career spans 15 years, and in 2009, he won Best Original Song at the Oscars for “The Weary Kind” heard in the drama film Crazy Heart starring Jeff Bridges.
So much talent!
