Zac Efron just shared some photos from his summer vacation on Instagram, and the internet is not OK. Which might have something to do with the fact that the actor is yoked again, and many of the images he shared on social prominently feature his muscular physique.
The first photo of the carousel, which shows Efron and his equally-shredded brother Dylan both shirtless in swimmers, has blown up on Twitter and precipitated the usual influx of thirsty comments. One user even tweeted: “Are we ready to discuss Zac Efron’s brother being hotter than him?”
After famously getting into the most ultra-defined, vascular shape of his life for the 2017 action comedy Baywatch, Efron swore off that kind of intense approach to movie prep for several years, explaining how the process of becoming so shredded—which included 4 a.m. workouts and a strict diet—played a real mental and physical toll.
“I started to develop insomnia, and I fell into a pretty bad depression, for a long time,” he told Men’s Health in 2022. “Something about that experience burned me out. I had a really hard time re-centering.”
However, when it came to embodying the role of real-life pro wrestler Kevin Von Erich in the upcoming A24 film The Iron Claw, Efron has once again taken on the challenge of physically transforming—and these vacation photos are evidence of all that hard training.
In fact, Efron’s dedication to the physicality of his character really impressed his co-star Jeremy Allen White, who plays his brother Kerry in the movie.
“Zac’s a maniac,” White remarked earlier this year. “He’s so focused and knowledgeable on training, diet, all that. In terms of a physical transformation, I think he kind of blew us all out of the water. He looks really amazing in this thing.”
