YELLOWSTONE FANS ARE still reeling about recent reports about the show’s future. And while there have been no official developments, one star is speaking out about the rumors.
In case you missed it, Deadline recently reported on rumors that Kevin Costner is poised to leave the show over scheduling disputes, causing Yellowstone to end after the current season, and a new installment of the Yellowstone universe with Matthew McConaughey to begin.
Kevin Costner and Matthew McConaughey have not addressed the rumors, and Paramount Network offered this response: “We have no news to report. Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone and we hope that’s the case for a long time to come. Thanks to the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan, we are always working on franchise expansions of this incredible world he has built. Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent with whom we’d love to partner.”
While other cast members have been silent about the rumors, Wes Bentley, who stars as Jamie Dutton, spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the show’s future. He said, “The news that’s come out recently about the show is, you know, it’s above my pay grade. Different people making decisions.” The actor continued, “I know that they’re still working on… working things out with everyone, to make sure we shoot. And I’m confident we will. We always have before. I think it’s probably a bit of drama over nothing.”
For his part, Bentley is more concerned about the expected showdown between his character and his on-screen sister, Beth. Although he’s in the dark about the upcoming plots just like the viewers, he predicts, “Something major will come of this moment between Jamie and Beth. This is kind of the final straw.”
We’ll be waiting to see what the future holds for the Jamie and Beth storyline when the show returns in the summer. Until then, catch up on the first four seasons on Peacock, or purchase season 5 on Prime Video.
